Staying Busy. |
.::
|
Wow, things have been busy. I haven't updated in a couple of days
because I've been busy at work on a new article in addition to
working with new link partners. If you have any writing ability or
talent what so ever a great source of free traffic is writing
articles with free reprint rights.
This allows other website and ezine owners to get free content and
you get a free link. It works pretty well. If you can't write, I
suggest you hire someone who can.
My pay-per-click advertising income has been declining a bit because I
haven't added any new products and my best sellers have attracted a
ton of competition. One of the keys to selling high commission items
through Amazon is being one of the first couple of people to start
selling through pay-per-click advertising. Your click through rate will be
high giving you a higher position for a lower price once the
competition comes. The trick is finding those products. It's a very time
consuming process. I found my top seller by subscribing to a
newsletter who announces new products and business ideas. I started
taking Amazon orders through pay-per-click ads before the
product was even available for shipping.

Pay-Per-Click.
|
.::
|
I had to remove another item from my pay-per-click campaign today.
This one was called Atlas Past Maker. I had received a very nice
click through ratio at a low price but hadn't made a sell in 20
clicks. If a product I am advertising through pay-per-click
advertising doesn't sell in 20 clicks then I either pause or delete
the keywords. Something else you will notice about the item is that
I use the brand name. This is very important to how I have been
successful using pay-per-click advertising to make money selling
Amazon products. For example instead of trying to sell something
using the keyword vacuum cleaner, target the exact brand make and
model, like Hover Steamvac.

Getting Listed.
|
.::
|
While doing some research on search engine optimization yesterday I
found an article, which covered submitting your site to directories.
Of course DMOZ and Yahoo were listed but the 3rd recommendation was
LookSmart. I didn't know much about this directory so decided to
check it out. Commercial submissions are paid listings but they also
utilize the Zeal database which is made up of non commercial sites.
There is a category for Link Popularity articles at the Zeal site. I
have two articles on my site that I wrote and decided to submit.
After comparing the sites listed in that category to my own, I felt
I had a pretty good chance of being listed. Unfortunately I was
rejected on the basis that my site may lead to a commercial site.
It's sad how obviously biased the editor of this category is,
considering the other sites in the category are nearly identical to
mine. Also, several of the listings in this category all lead to the
same site. This isn't going to break me of course but it's very
frustrating after the early success I had getting listed with DMOZ.
Maybe it's time to start a pay-per-click campaign for my own site
with that nice Amazon check I got today.
